Jiaru’s Homepage

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Astrophysics Group at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge. My research interests include exoplanetary dynamics, protoplanetary disks, and the dynamical evolution of black holes embedded in active galactic nucleus disks. I primarily investigate these topics through N-body and hydrodynamical simulations, complemented by analytical modeling.

I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto in 2017, where I worked with Professor Artur Izmaylov on quantum chemistry. I subsequently earned my Ph.D. in Astronomy from Cornell University in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Dong Lai. During my graduate studies, I also spent two years at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a CSES Student Fellow. Before joining Cambridge, I was a CIERA Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University.

Since moving abroad to pursue my scientific adventures, I have lived and worked in five cities across three countries. Before embarking on this journey, I was born and raised in my beautiful hometown of Hangzhou, China.
